It was an excellent Beginners class with a good student-teacher ratio. The teacher, Ms. Sakaoka was well-prepared, dilligent, thoughtful in meeting the needs of all the students. She was readily accessible through email and prepared each and every lesson with excellent visuals and encouraged students to be engaged in verbal discussions throughout each class. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and would recommend to anyone willing to engage in Japanese language and culture.

The class was great. I have attended Japanese language before but she (Akino) mentioned some very interesting points about Hiragana, katakana and the pronounciation which was very helpful. She knows what she is talking about. I am very happy that I attended the class. Even it was snowy and cold but it really worth it. Thanks!

I met Ms. Akino at Colombia University Teacher's College.
In the class, Ms.Akino prepared some hand out to help us understand articles better.
After we finished course, I started a private lesson with her.
She corrects the sentences that I write and explains how they can be written more clearly.
I think Ms.Akino knows the Japanese people’s weak points in English.
I recommend Ms.Akino’s private lessons for Japanese people!

そのクラスの授業で先生は、テキストの内容をより分かりやすくす ために資料を用意して下さいました。
授業が終了したとき、先生とのレッスンを続けたいと思いプライベ トのレッスンを始めました。先生は私の文を添削し、適した表現方 を教えて下さいます。
日本人の苦手なところをよくご存知なので、説明が非常に分かりや いですよ。

While, other educational methods may yield positive results, they often leave you understanding words but unable to properly present them or hold meaningful dialog.
We all have been on the giving or receiving end of a conversation in which we or someone else feels they are fluent enough in a language only to find our self reduce to sign language and trying to adjust phrases that don’t fit.
Akino’s methods produce results that give the ability not only for understanding language but also how to use language in a functioning comprehensive Form in, both formal and informal situations.
Within one lesson I was not only able know the Japanese sentence structure and how to apply it. This gives both the enthusiasm and confidence to both learn and present yourself as fluent as you learn. The reason being is that I can now confidently learn new words even on my own and understand how to develop and apply them in my pursuit of learning Japanese.
Look forward to my lessons not only to learn but also to show my progress.

Akino-sensei is a fantastic Japanese teacher. She makes confusing topics easy, and is very attentive to the needs of her students. I took two classes at the 92 YMCA with her and am looking forward to private lessons soon. I was surprised at how just after a few classes with Akino-sensei my Japanese was able to improve.
