Alexis first started doing yoga almost 8 years ago in her theatre classes at Cal State: Fullerton where she was working on her musical theatre degree. Soon after, what started off as a means to warm up for the stage, yoga became her life focus. While finishing up her degree, Alexis received her yoga teaching certification. She has been teaching full-time for about 7 years now and holds one of the highest levels of Yoga Alliance certification: E-RYT 500. Alexis is the co-founder of Shanti Shanti Yoga School, leading two yoga teacher trainings a year. Even though Alexis is busy teaching others how to teach, she makes it a point to still remain a student herself by frequenting yoga classes and attending yoga conferences all over the country. She teaches workshops on pre/post natal, kid’s, and restorative yoga. She leads about two retreats in Santa Barbara every year and was even filmed in a yoga DVD in Costa Rica. Her style is true to vinyasa flow, but her class formats are always changing, incorporating restorative poses with the regular practice to help bring the focus even deeper within. Join her early in the morning and see how her class can help you to open up your body and nuture your soul.

"I have had the privilege of working with Alexis as a student as well as a student in her yoga teacher training. Alexis was my personal mentor as I worked through the teacher training program. Early in my training I had to miss a class and so was treated to two private sessions with Alexis to bring my teacher training back up to speed. I feel so lucky to have experienced Alexis and her wisdom in all of these settings. It's nearly impossible to hold onto stress or resistance in her presence; Alexis reminds me of a vast and calm pool of water. Warm, receptive, and gently reflective...Alexis knows how to create a safe space for personal transformation. That said, Alexis also has a wealth of experience and a full range of tools from which to draw. No matter where you wish to go deeper in your yoga practice, Alexis can help you guide yourself there. Working with Alexis I have explored mudras, bandhas, pranayama, face yoga (!)...she seems endlessly creative and no two sessions are ever the same. I am so grateful to have Alexis among my guides on this journey. Namaste~"
