Jeff has been social dancing for 14 years and teaching independently for 10. He is trained in Savoy style East Coast Swing/Lindy Hop, Modern West Coast Swing, Club style Salsa/Latin, Blues dancing, and traditional social Ballroom dances such as Waltz and FoxTrot. He has learned from top instructors both locally in Chicago and with internationally known experts.
He has taught classes at Chicago universities such as the University of Chicago, DePaul, and Loyola, as well workshops regionally at Illinois State University, Calvin College, Notre Dame University and elsewhere. He also has many years of experience teaching wedding couples for their first dance, and significant amateur performance experience.
Jeff's teaching style incorporates both good technique and cool patterns, emphasizing solid leading/following skills and proper dance floor etiquette.

"I am pretty new to the swing dance scene. I started dancing last September and fell in love with Lindyhop, Blues, East Coast Swing, and my favorite- West Coast Swing. I've always have been one to ask for criticism and Jeff was very helpful in his comments. Several times he has worked with me individually to improve my technique. Jeff is very clear about what it is I'm doing and what I need to do instead. Also, Jeff is EXTREMELY patient. Anyone who knows me can tell you it usually takes me awhile to get steps down solid. Jeff takes the time and breaks everything down for me and then we practice again, and again, and again until I feel comfortable with it. It's obvious that dancing is what Jeff loves to do with his life and he loves it so much, he wants to help others fall in love with it too. "

"Jeff is a great dance teacher! Jeff has been teaching my fiancé and I have a dance for our wedding “first dance” and he was able to choreograph something that looks beautiful with our song and matches our skill level. He knew just how to explain the dance moves so we could learn them step-by-step. He knows the professional moves, but also how to bring them down to our level. I feel confident that our dance will be in good form, and look graceful, even though we’ve only taken 10 lessons. He is also flexible, very reasonably priced, and a pleasure to work with. You won’t be disappointed learning from him!"
