"I have a wonderful new friend in the music business and his name is Jim Irish... or is it ThinkDrums? (Great name huh?) If you are looking for a percussion instructor who has a genuine, intense love of music and teaching and is also truly inspiring and motivating as a person, look no further. Jim is your man! Jim and I met through a random internet search in February of 2012. I was looking for a percussion teacher for my son who will soon graduate from high school. He needed to brush up on his marimba and snare for an upcoming college audition. After a few phone calls, we set up the lessons and they all went very well. The lessons took place at the high school band room where he teaches... A very safe place. Jim gave us extra time on the three, hour-long lessons that we lined up, fitting them into his very busy schedule. I was very happy that we were able to have the lessons at a convenient time for all of us. He was so easy to work with on the scheduling. He also provided music, charts, and other drum music publications for my son to use. I should also mention that my child really likes Jim and wants to continue taking music lessons from him. As the parent, I really like him too. So important! When Jim found out the audition was going to be at a nearby university, he contacted the percussion professor there to get my son's audition pieces approved. That went above and beyond the call of duty I think. Jim also spoke with my son a lot about audition strategies, how to practice for it and other ways to succeed in a college music program. We've only had the three lessons so far, which took place in the two weeks right before the audition. Since we didn't have very much time at all to prepare, it was great that Jim made himself available for the lessons in such a short span of time. The flexibility he displayed was really admirable. A great quality! Give Jim a call if you need a music/percussion teacher for your child. You won't be sorry. We hope to continue lessons with Jim in the near future when things get a little less hectic. Did I mention there's a high school graduation coming up? Oh and a beach trip... and summer...and... Cheers! "
