My incredible journey in music began at the age of four with a very tiny violin. I never imagined at that age that music would become my livelihood and that my passion for playing and teaching the violin would grow so strong. I am so fortunate to have studied with some of the most inspirational teachers in the US while receiving my B.M. in violin performance from New England Conservatory as a pupil of Marylou Speaker Churchill, and a M.M. and P.S.D. from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, under the private instruction of Ian Swensen. As a performer and teacher it is essential for me to pass on the fascinating and rewarding techniques of violin playing as well as aural training and music appreciation. I accept students of all ages. I specialize in teaching children starting as early as three years old as well as adults. It is my joy and pleasure to guide and encourage students wherever they are on their musical path

"I have the greatest admiration for Stephanie! Since I began studying violin with her, my love of making music has grown exponentially. Stephanie has a gift for explaining techniques and bringing out musicianship that you didn't realize you possessed. She approaches each lesson with patience and adapts her teaching to your own skill level and learning style. Not only is Stephanie an excellent violin teacher, but she is also a talented performer and artist in her own right. "

"Stephanie has been teaching my daughter the violin since she was 4 years old. I cannot tell you how lucky we are to have found Stephanie. Amazing is an understatement. She is an awesome, dedicated teacher because she is patient and understands how to motivate kids. My daughter actually looks forward to her violin lessons. I don't how many parents can say that about their kids when it comes to music lessons. When Stephanie teaches, it's not just about getting through a piece. She is meticulous about how the bow should be held, where the violin should be positioned, how fingers should be placed, and how each piece should be played to perfect intonation. Stephanie plays games to make it fun while teaching musical notes, rhythm and theory. My daughter thinks these are just games without realizing she is actually learning something. She is only 7 and playing pieces like Gavotte from Mignon. It's not just Stephanie's own amazing musical talent but she has a natural gift of inspiring kids. Stephanie is the best out there."

"There are a lot of violin teacher's out there, but anyone who comes across Stephanie's name should really stop and see what they may be missing. Besides being an absolutely 'top-notch' player (check out her youtube vids!), Steph really, actually cares about her students, with all her heart, I can tell. The first thing you will notice is the great patience she has when showing you a new, better way of thinking about something technically or musically. She knows that some information needed to really improve your violin playing, requires you to grasp uncomfortable concepts, and even contort your hand into uncomfortable positions. The way she teaches is so pleasant, and understanding that one can forget that she is totally changing your playing for the better! It is always so much fun to learn from Steph and I know I am not the only one out there that wishes their weekly time with her was longer.. worked with the absolute best teachers, at the best conservatories, serious violin skills, patience for days, smart, very smart, very reliable, are just a few of the words. Bottom line is, If you are really interested in increasing your love for music, and increasing your ability to show it through your playing, you have found your teacher"
