She later earned a Bachelor of Music degree from California State University Sacramento where she studied with Andrew Luchansky. She then went on to complete a Master of Music degree and Graduate Performance Diploma from Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD, studying with Jeffrey Solow, Alan Stepansky, and David Hardy.
Samantha has performed in Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and England, as well as in the U.S. She attended Kneisel Hall Chamber Music School and Festival in Blue Hill, ME and has played in cello and chamber music master classes with Steven Doane, Mihaly Virizlay, Ronald Copes (of the Juilliard Quartet), the Alexander Quartet, and Seymour Lipkin. She now enjoys an active freelance career and teaching cello lessons in her Alexandria studio.

Student Recommendations

"Our son studied with Samantha for four years, primarily during his middle school years. He genuinely enjoyed his sessions with her. Samantha established a nice rapport with him. Although he was not the most dedicated student, our son did achieve the second chair position with his middle school orchestra (i.e., a large Fairfax County middle school with an excellent music program). Thus, as parents, we were quite pleased with Samantha's instruction."

"My thirteen year old daughter has studied with Samantha for almost a year and we are thrilled with her progress. She was an absolute beginner and has progressed beautifully. Samantha has been patient but deliberate in guiding my daughter along, and has imparted a lively interest in the instrument and in music overall. I think the best testament to Samantha is that my daughter now independently seeks out (simpler) cello music online and can read and play the music by sight. We highly recommended her!
