Dr Michael Burgess

Tenor Michael Burgess is a freelance voice and guitar instructor, and vocal coach, in the Chicagoland area. He is a versatile professional singer and performer, equally prominent in classical, musical theater, and popular/jazz/rock venues. Doctor Burgess (“Doc” or “Doc B” to his students and music colleagues) was the lead singer in the band Fast Times, an 80’s cover band, performs on acoustic guitar in his “Live Sessions with Paddy O”, and has enjoyed a 20 year career on the opera and theater stage throughout the United States. Doctor B’s voice students can be found on the stage of Chicago Lyric Opera, in the Manhattan School of Music, Interlochen Arts Academy, Columbia University, The American Institute of Music Study in Graz Austria, and other top schools of music and artist’s programs. Equally adept at teaching pop and rock vocalism, his coaching students have made it to the Hollywood on American Idol and The Voice.
