LA Wushu head coaches Rick Jacobs and Tim Storms:

Rickie Jacobs has more than 20 years of experience in the sport of wushu. Coach Jacobs also holds black belts in tae kwon do and the Filipino art of Arnis.

Rick is responsible for creating the first wushu program at Ohio State University and was awarded the Legend in Martial Arts medal by Grandmaster Choi for his work implementing the first wushu divisions in Karate tournaments throughout the midwest. He holds two black belts in wushu from two of the best Coaches in America, one from former Beijing wushu team member Zhang Guifeng, and his second from the National Wushu Training Center with Eric Chen.

Rick has been coaching for more than 10 years and has produced several region 7 and 8 champions in youth divisions for NASKA. Rick himself went undefeated in Longfist in 1996 and 1997 NASKA. Jacobs holds 16 gold medals in international invitational competitions across China in wushu and Taiji. One of the only American males to consistently defeat Chinese athletes in the Jian competition. Rick has also won two back to back Grand Championships in '97 and '98 at the Arnold Schwarzenegger international martial arts expo. Those same years Jacobs was a co-sponsor with Eric Chen in helping to bring the Beijing Wushu Team to America to compete at the Arnold Schwarzenegger MA classic where they won two years in a row.

Tim Storms has been practicing martial arts for 30 years. He received his first black belt in taekwondo when he was 17 years old. Tim has since studied and taught many various martial arts, including aikido, ninjitsu, and jiu-jitsu.

He began his training in wu-shu at the National Wu-Shu Training Center in Los Angeles, under the guidance of Eric Chen, where he earned his second degree black belt. Tim also has trained in China, with the world-famous Beijing Wu-Shu Team, and Coach Wu Bin, Jet Li's teacher.

Besides wu-shu, Tim teaches gymnastics, wire-work and stunts. He choreographs and performs stunts and fights for movies, television and live theatre. He has worked on blockbusters like THE MATRIX, SPIDERMAN 2, SWORDFISH,and SEABISCUIT. He was thrilled to fight against Jet Li in CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE. Tim is also a classically trained actor, writer and director.
