Jerry Oliver had already spent time playing professionally when he realized he had a knack for communicating musical ideas to others and enjoyed showing people how quickly they could play something that sounded cool even when they had no prior musical training or experience.
Jerry began teaching guitar lessons part time in 1993 while he was still in music school. By 1996 his teaching schedule was so full he made the decision to dedicate himself to teaching and performing music full time.
Jerry has taught hundreds of students of all ages and levels in Minneapolis and now in the Nashville area since 2003. Past students have went on to become students of guitar and music at other schools like The Berkeley School Of Music and GIT, play professionally in bands, work in TV, record their music, play talent shows, write their own songs, and many have learned to play and enjoy the guitar for their own private enjoyment!

"I began taking guitar lessons from Jerry in 1997 when I was 7 years old and stuck with him up until Jerry left for Nashville in 2003. I'm now 22 and recently graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in guitar performance. I would not be where I am today without the excellent instruction Jerry gave me. He taught me how to read music from the very beginning which gave me a huge advantage when I went to school for music. Most teachers would just skip the reading and do the fun stuff, especially in a very young player, but he is very patient and knows the importance of reading. I would recommend Jerry for anyone. "Jerry teaches my teenaged son and has for over two years. He is not only relevant with song choice but makes it fun while insisting on the scales, chords...the basics. Ross has made significant strides in both technique and confidence. Jerry is prepared each lesson with a plan that reinforces a concept but make exception my son has something he really wants to learn during that lesson. Jerry has been willing to work around Ross's busy school schedule including last minute accommodation for athletic events, social events, or summer trips.
