As a dancer:
I have been dancing for over twenty years, beginning with Tap and Jazz at the Age of four. I received some of the best basic dance training in South Florida from Mrs. P's Dance and Acrobatic Studio, where I was a member of the competitive and performance company for ten years. After graduating high school in 2001, I studied dance as a dance minor at both University of Miami and Florida State University, where I trained in Modern and Ballet. In 2006, I joined DancEffects, a college age competition team, of which I am a senior member to date. I have competed regionally and nationally along the east coast and participate annually in Tap City: The New York City Tap Festival.
As for instructing, I have been teaching at studios in Tallahassee and Wakulla county for 5 years. As tap has been the main focus of my dance studies, I have been tap dancing semi-professionally in New York City for three years, working with the American Tap Dance Foundation and performing in residencies during their festivals. I am signed on to assist again next year with the youth program at Tap City as an assistant to the director, and I am contracted to teach master classes next year at the Jersey Tap Fest.
As a musician:
I studied voice at University of Miami and viola at FSU for 4 years as well as piano and guitar privately. I majored in music theory at FSU, finishing out with a BA in music in 2005. I have played professionally with Central Florida Symphony Orchestra in Ocala, FL as well as numerous string quartets all over Florida.
As a scholar/teacher:
I have dedicated my studies since entering grad school to the art of teaching. I have conducted research with some of the finest professors at FSU, including renowned Heidegger scholar, Dr. Mickey Dwyer. I have since found great joy in teaching and tutoring students in all subjects, although my favorite will always be math. It's just fun.
