"John was a great teacher and I worked with him for many years. He was always able to improve my playing, be it on classical band music or on improvisation for jazz band. He really knows his stuff when it comes to jazz, and I learned so much under his guidance. He was a truly versatile teacher and is highly recommended for any music student wanting to have fun while playing and also wanting to learn lots too!"

"My son has been a saxophone student of John Temmerman’s for nine years (and counting) and John has prepared him well for his many musical adventures. My son is now playing at the college level and has greatly benefited from John’s teaching and support throughout the years. He continues to study with John when he can. John is an outstanding musician who is generous in sharing his insight, talent and enthusiasm. It is obvious he loves what he does, does it well, and truly has a gift for teaching. John can be firm when required, but knows how to challenge and inspire. According to my son, learning with John has always been fun. I highly recommend John to any parent looking for a teacher to take their young musician to another level."

"John gave my son Joe lessons for 4 years on both the tenor and baritone saxophones. John pushes his students and challenges them to work hard and improve. But he also is understanding when his students cannot practice as much as they would like. Medical issues prevented my son from practicing as much as most students, and he missed a lot of lessons. John was always understanding and willing to work with Joe in whatever way he could. He never dismissed Joe or suggested that he was disappointed in Joe's progress. John supported Joe in just the way he needed. So, John knows what he is doing, but also knows how to relate to people. What more could you ask for? "

"I decided 4 years ago at the age of 69 that I wasnted to learn jazz on the tenor sax. I played when I was a kid,but I really didn't have an understanding of what I was doing or why even when it sounded good. John has taught me to be a better musician and has taught me jazz theory. He always has an explanation for any of my questions and i get something from every lesson. It sounds like he's having as much fun as I am."
