Jason Kohler

Jay Kohler is currently an aspiring composer, arranger, and performer. Jay grew up in Somerset, MA listening to various rock bands, and started playing guitar at age 13. He has been making music ever since. He recently graduated Summa Cum laude from UMass Dartmouth, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music – with a focus in composition. He also performs on Drumset, Bass, and Laptop. He is frequently showcasing his skills in various rock bands and ensembles in the area (Sun of Sound, the Cartesian Circle, Something About Horses) and has had experience playing in jazz, pop, classical, and improvisation ensembles.. His compositions reflect an array of styles centralized mostly around Experimental Rock, in a style he likes to call "Intense Electric Chamber Music" - seeking to bridge the gap between academic music like jazz and classical with the energy, attitude, and abrasiveness of contemporary popular styles such as hardcore and alternative rock.
