Iari has been studying voice for over 20 years, ranging from the Classical Bel Canto Method to Contemporary Techniques with several well-known voice instructors. He is a graduate with honors in Theatre Performance, studied Vocal Jazz Performance for over 6 years under Roger Letson (De Anza College), and was the lead tenor for Downbeat Magazines 9x award winning collegiate vocal jazz group, Vocal Flight (2002 - 2003). He has been teaching private students for over 13 yrs.
In addition to writing and performing original material as a solo artist and with Maybe Tuesday, he freelances with several Bay Area bands like Silicon Vibe, and is a popular session vocalist. Because Iari is a professional performer, he teaches from a performer's perspective, covering not only the foundations and technical aspects of vocal technique, but also style and delivery in Pop, R&B, Gospel, Jazz and Musical Theatre.

"Lets just start off with saying I'm a social butterfly. I love talking with people and I love when people listen to me. Give me a microphone and attention and I'm happy :) But when it came to singing i was as quiet as a mouse, well outside of singing in the car.
A few years ago I was in an awful relationship which took a toll on my self confindnce. I got "over" everything except one thing. Whenever I would sing he would make fun, say I was horrible, i sounded like a dying cat, etc etc. Now I know I'm not THAT bad. I'm no Kelly Clarkson but I can hold a note. I love to sing. I find it to be my therapy and joy.
So over time I have started to sing more and more.
About 1 1/2 ago I finally decided to take vocal lessons from Iari. He does offer a FREE 30 MIN lesson for new students so I thought, why not?
Oh was I shy. I didn't want to stand or look at him. I wanted to hide behind the door. lol.
He made me feel so comfortable. I was able to sing with confidence. He taught me how to control my voice and how singing is just speaking on pitch.
I'm very thankful to have Iari as my singing coach. :)

"Having studied Music in college where I was Classically-trained by Opera singers, I found it challenging to work on what I really wanted: singing with a R&B/ Pop voice. Fortunately for me, I found Iari. Iari is THE consummate professional. He makes you feel relaxed, but at the same time pushes you to get better. Funny thing is, after a while, I didn't have to try really hard to get the sound I want. What I mean by that is Iari helped me with techniques, so that I wasn't pushing loads of air every time I sing. My singing voice became second nature like when I'm talking.
Iari has also been a great coach to me as a songwriter. I had some songs that I wrote and was getting ready for production for my EP. He helped me map it out before I went it into the studio and I credit him as being a HUGE reason why it turned out so well.
Now, Iari is getting me prepared, so I can finally sing my songs on stage. If you have aspirations of being a singer/ performer and need guidance to reaching your fullest potential, you MUST learn from Iari Melchor." -
