I offer the experience of 5 Broadway shows and a show biz career of more than 30 years. I climbed the ranks from chorus to lead singing and dancing all the way! My most notable role is The Engineer in Miss Saigon - on Broadway, internationally, regionally - and earned me the 2011 Carbonell Award for Best Actor in a Musical. I have always worked in the performing arts, supported by family, friends, teachers and employers. Now, I pay it forward by coaching others to grow in their expression, creativity, and dreams!

"Herman is amazing! He is incredibly talented as a teacher. Herman has a deep understanding of voice mechanics and is able to quickly identify vocal habits and help you to understand what to do to correct them. He explains things well and gets you to connect to the physical aspect through exercises and acting techniques. Herman has an excellent understanding of different vocal styles and helps you identify the vocal inflections that are unique to you, helping you to find the creativity in your voice. He can help you work on your own music, or prepare you for your Broadway audition. He has helped me so much, every time I see him I feel thankful to have him in my life as a vocal coach."

"My 16 year old daughter is very active in school plays and she loves to sing and to act. Although she does not aspire to be a professional performer, she wanted to work on developing her voice - simply because she loves to sing! We knew about Herman via local theater in the Kingston area. I had not considered contacting him because I thought he would be out of our league, given the fact that my daughter "just" wanted to learn to sing better. Then one day last August, he happened to be a a mutual friend's house for a birthday party and I got up the nerve to ask if he would be willing to take on such a student as my daughter. He quickly set my mind at ease and explained that he would welcome the task of deepening my daughter's appreciation for her voice, as she strove to fulfill her potential. One year later - we are thrilled with our experience. My daughter trusts Herman implicitly and the proof that such trust is well-deserved lies in the fact that she, herself, recognizes her steady progress. What started out simply as voice lessons, has yielded so much more. Beyond Herman's obvious knowledge and very capable skills, He has inspired my daughter to learn all that she can - not just about her voice, but about herself, as well. His enthusiastic support has motivated my daughter to reach for the stars! And for that ~ we are grateful! "

"I have been a student of Herman’s for over seven years. I began studying with him at 11 when I was offered to be the singer for my middle school’s jazz ensemble. One of the stipulations was that I needed to take voice lessons. Seven years later, I do not think I would be where I am if it hadn’t been for Herman. His experience is clearly expressed through his teaching methods. He will be the first to tell you that he is strict and expects the world from you. But because of that attitude, you only want to work harder for him. I have been fortunate enough to work with Herman, not only as a vocal coach, but as a director as well. I was a part of all four of his directing ventures in the Hudson Valley. Two of my favorite roles in these shows were the Rose Seller in “Oliver!” and Mayzie LaBird in “Seussical.” Herman brought his coaching abilities to the stage and rehearsal studio to put on some of the best performances I have ever been a part of. I learned so much as well as truly had a great time. While I have gone off to college, Herman and I still work together, whether it’s through Skype or in person. Throughout these past seven years, I have not only gained a coach, I have gained a friend. He is the real deal! "

"I have been a student of Herman's for almost a year. My old singing teacher was good, but she always thought of me as just as a soprano and didn't think I could develop my chest voice. I was very frustrated and wanted a teacher that could help me with that part of my voice. So I started taking lessons from Herman. Although Herman agrees that my soprano voice is special, he still helps me improve my chest voice, and believes that I can get better. He is such a great teacher, he is very knowledgable on how the voice really works, and he's inspiring to. I would definitely recommend Herman to anyone who loves to sing and wants to improve:)"
