Growing up in Hawaii as the youngest of 10 children, I've been blessed with an abundance of love, laughter, music, sports, academics, spirituality, faith, and natural beauty. I believe this is why I choose Yoga as my life path, or why Yoga has chosen me. Yoga encompasses all of it.
Some people know me as a school teacher, an English teacher, and a Film Production teacher. Others recognize me from TV as a host, actor, or model. Some know me as a writer and producer. I am a sister, daughter, auntie, and loyal friend. I love to do all of it, and it reflects in my teaching/writing/producing/performing.
My greatest teachers are: my students, my parents, my siblings, and past lovers.
Places that changed my life: Puna and Wood Valley on the Big Island of Hawaii; Abadiania, Brazil; living in England and backpacking around Europe. India and Tibet, although I've never been there.
My wish and goal: peace and joy for all beings.

"I have been an Iyengar student for 15+ years and took Gloria's class in an effort to explore new yoga options. She is inventive, inspiring, and one of the best teachers I have ever experienced. She adds so many different types of yoga to her class (vinyasna, ashtanga, iyengar, dance...)to keep it fresh and alive. I am always sore in a new place, rejuvenated and energized. Gloria knows how to keep it new, safe and appropriate and beneficial to everyone in the class. Very committed, always professional and positive, Gloria is a great way to start or end the day!"

"I have been practicing yoga for a few years, and Gloria has stood out as one of the most attentive and present instructors I have ever had. She has a gentle voice making her students feel comfortable. She gives clear instructions on poses and takes her time to adjust for proper alignment, which I feel is very important to not get injured. She often reminds her yoga students to be engaged at all times, making ones personal practice more solid and challenging if one chooses to do so. I would highly recommend Gloria as a yoga instructor, and feel that those who have the opportunity to experience her class will not be disappointed. "

"I have known Gloria for over 5 years and have been attending her various yoga classes for almost as long on my trips to the big island. I have been practicing yoga for about 8 years both in Alaska and in Hawaii and my experience with Gloria and her instruction has been excellent. She absolutely knows what she is all about with regard to her teaching and skill, and she has all those intangible qualities of a great teacher. She is compassionate and teaches that in her classes. She is loving and that shows always. She is enthusiastic and I can honestly say that I have never felt better at the end of a yoga class than I have at the end of some of her classes. If you like classes that will put a smile on your face, challenge you physically, and leave you far happier than when you walked through the door, look her up!! Denny Rofkar Sitka, Alaska Keaau, HI"

"I was doing weight training at a gym in Hilo, Hawaii. Gloria was guiding Yoga sessions twice a week at the gym. I was embarrassed at first to join the group. Gloria quickly made me feel at ease as a beginner. My son, a teenager at the time, was seriously training with weights. He began doing Yoga too on alternate days from weight training. Gloria is very sensitive to each person’s progress as well as the general mood or energy of the group. She knows her stuff and gives detailed and careful instructions to make sure the postures, breathing, and movements are done safely and correctly. The gym had a sound system. She played mixed CDs of her own selection of music that I enjoyed too. "

"First off, whoever would have thought that I'd be able to do a headstand?!? I am consciously taking the lessons that Gloria has taught me and brought it into my everyday life. I am so appreciative of having found Gloria's class. Learning to breathe, being able to challenge myself...Gloria is also very aware of everyone's different levels and pushes when needed but also reminding you not to overdo it. Thanks Gloria! :)"

"I've been going to Gloria's aerial yoga class at the Still and Moving Center and her "Deepening the Practice" workshop at Yoga Loft and I enjoy her instruction style so much! She is enthusiastic and her energy is contagious. She makes me WANT to learn more about yoga. I think the one thing that makes her different is that she believes in her yoga practice in a very real way--it's hard to describe in words but she helps you to realize that your practice is YOURS to get what you need and want out of it. The only regret I have is I found her only a couple of months before she moves to Boulder!! I would have loved to grow my own practice with her guidance and encouragement!"

"One day I was lucky to be able to attend a yoga class with Gloria because she was graciously subbing for someone else. I knew I had to take the opportunity to experience a yoga session with her. My gut instinct told me so. And I'm so glad I did - Gloria is so present. She is accepting. She is empowering. She saw that I could do it before I knew I could. I read somewhere that a master can see before the student does. And that's just what she did. Thank you, Gloria, for seeing me as I was and instilling the confidence in me that I needed in that moment!"
