"I took Laura's Culture Jamming class at MCTC. I found Laura to be a very bright and informative instructor. She prepared for her classes, fostered interesting discussion, and always shared interesting examples pertaining to the topics we learned about in class. To boot, she has a great sense of humor and is highly creative. "

"I took two classes with Laura through MCTC, Culture Jamming and Playing with Words and a creative writing class through EXCO, the Experimental College. They covered a broad area, were very insightful, intense and stimulating. They really kept me interested and inspired me to go into more depth. Her passion for her subjects, as well as for teaching itself, was inspiring."

"I'm writing here not as a student in one of Laura's classes, but as the person who taught two "Teaching in Higher Education" courses in which Laura was a student. In that role, I got to see the classes she teaches take shape, grow from idea to actuality. And now I get to hear how the courses actually work when Laura and students gather together. What I saw was solid, good, inventive. What I hear supports that students in the classes thrive and learn, create and understand. Hallmarks of a very good teacher."

"I took a class through EXCO entitled "Class in a Classless Society" in which we explored the essence of class in American society and the ways it shapes our view of ourselves and of others. Laura allowed the students to work through examples of class that were significant to us and then gently navigated our discussion when our own intuition failed. She very much was a leading part of the class as opposed to a speaking at the class from the pedestal of authority. I would strongly recommend her to others looking to explore liberal issues. "
