Aslahan Oryantal

I began studying Middle Eastern Dance (Oriental Dance or "bellydance") in 1992 in Atlanta, GA, eventually coming to specialize in the Turkish style. Dancers that have influenced my style include Artemis Mourat, Eva Cernik, Dalia Carella, Amaya, and Rhea. I've been performing professionally in the greater Boston area since 2000, appearing at a variety of clubs and restaurants, cultural events, street fairs, as well as private celebrations like weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays.

I love to perform, both Oriental and Turkish Romani style, but my real passion is teaching, whether it be one-on-one, group classes, or workshops. I try to give my students personal attention, and I love watching a beginner get hooked on this marvelous dance, an intermediate student's face light up as she unlocks a new move, or a new performer blossoming into her full potential with detailed coaching.
