I offer custom sewing, and teach sewing to groups and individuals. I have been sewing for 40 years, teach sewing to both adults and children, and have my own pattern design business, SewBaby. My sewing studio is set up with machines, ironing area, and cutting area, so all you need to bring is your tools and fabric. I can teach individuals privately or up to 4 people at a time, if you have a group that would like to take lessons together.

"I found Ann Brodsky after trying to sign up for her adult education class at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. The class filled up quickly, and the wait list seemed discouraging, so I decided to seek out private lessons. Luckily, Ann was very willing to accommodate me! I began lessons with her hoping to learn the essentials for a millinery workshop I was going to take. I had no idea where we should start or what I needed to learn so I let Ann decide what direction to take in the beginning. After mastering the basics, I began to get a better idea of what I wanted to learn, and we focused on projects that suited my interests. I am still taking lessons with Ann. She is great! She is very patient and knowledgeable. I was a true beginner, and she was always happy to answer even the simplest question. To add to that, she is super friendly and very professional. She always makes me feel welcome and excited for my next lesson because I know each time I am going to learn something new that I can put to use! I would give her my highest recommendation."

"My daughter took sewing lessons from Ann for almost a year. She learned a lot about patterns and basic sewing techniques, which I sure couldn't teach her! She made skirts, dresses, and shirts. Ann helped her understand the patterns and led her through all the steps, which gave her a lot more confidence. She went back this year and made a satin strapless dress for her 8th grade promotion, which was beautiful. Ann is a wonderful teacher and very flexible, and I would definitely recommend her for lessons."

"Ann was wonderful instructor! I would highly recommend sewing lessons with her. I started lessons with her hardly knowing anything about sewing and left my lessons feeling completely confident to tackle other sewing projects on my own. Not only did she teach me the basics but she made sure to pass on her "tricks of the trade". I also was having some issues with my machine and Ann went out of her way to try to figure out what could be wrong. She was very easy to work with and I looked forward to my lessons because they were a lot of fun. She really made sewing a joy and now I have found a wonderful new hobby. "

"Ann altered my wedding dress and she did a fantastic job! The dress fit perfectly and was just the right length for my shoes and I was able to walk and dance in my dress without having to worry about tripping over it. The dress was in perfect condition after she altered it and I was extremely happy with the results. Ann was very knowledgable and was able to assess my dress and explain how she was going to alter it to meet my needs. She was also able to offer different bustle options and ideas. Ann was very friendly and personable and extremely easy to work with. I highly recommend her to do any customized alterations you may need!"

"In Hollywood, there is what we call a total performer. Someone who can sing, dance, act and thrive under pressure as the saying goes, "The show must go on". In the sewing world, Ann Brodsky IS the total performer. She knows all the tips and tricks when it comes to this craft. I was her student in Sewing 101 this Spring 2012 where we made our own reversible bag. I had to register really early because her class was IN DEMAND! (based from my own experience last Fall 2011 registration) Ann is also a very patient instructor. Other instructors will say " You are doing it wrong" all the time and that can be very discouraging for first time learners. She, on the other hand, will calmly explain to you how to wind thread on your bobbin or why it is important to do a "back stitch" on everything! She even says them with a smile on her face. :) But wait... It doesn't stop there! Ann works well even under pressure. With just a short notice, she gladly accepted to repair my sister's dress for my wedding. She even made me a tube/ shawl for my wedding gown. Last, but certainly not least, Ann WAS THERE when I walked down the aisle, wearing her lovely yellow shoes along with her "Sewing aid kit" just in case something unexpected happens to my dress! Beat that!!! Thank you dear Ann, You indeed are a TOTAL Performer ^^, Sincerely, Magnolia Lim (I wish you all the best!)"
