In my 1st lesson with Dr. Ewing, he confirmed that my voice was damaged & that I had to begin again. He addressed the malfunctioning of my laryngeal mechanism using knowledge from the past & science of present. I got to work! The pain I experienced is gone and I am continuing to work weekly on my vocal instrument in private lessons & in Voice Pedagogy class taught by Dr. Ewing. Learning never ends & I am excited to continue growing in skills and understanding both as a singer & as a teacher.

"I came to Allen 7 years ago after having been a Metal singer for twenty years. Due to incorrect technique and lifestyle factors i was experiencing pain;shortened range and hoarseness after performances. In short my voice was shot. I was looking for a "quick fix" to alleviate this problem. Allen explained that there was no "quick fix" for my massive vocal damage, only slow consistent work. I must admit I haven't been the easiest student. My ego made me slow to change my concepts(which I knew weren't working).Allen has shown great compassion and patience through the years. He has gone out of his way to bring me back to vocal health. I can report that with Allen's guidance and a regimen of everyday practice and a bit of an attitude adjustment I am able to sing!I am only limited by my imagination.Flexibility and range have returned and I am able to sing without pain! Allen is a amazing teacher and has become a wonderful friend"

"I had dabbled in music and was essentially a mimic so I wanted to strengthen whatever skills I already had and discover what my voice was actually capable of doing. I came to Allen as an untrained singer and did not expect the road to my voice to be such a journey. In the year I have studied with Allen, I have not only developed a functional and dependable voice, but have learned about the actual mechanics of my voice. I am currently working on developing a distinct voice that is my own, but the structure and the stamina are there to support me because of the work I have done with Allen. He is a knowledgeable singer with a genuine passion for teaching. He pours himself into his work, tailors his lessons to each individual student's needs, and truly enjoys sharing his gift. "

"I've been studying with Allen for over 3 years, and I am so thankful to have had him! I have had multiple breakthroughs, and increased my strength and range more than I could have imagined. Allen's teaching technique is the best- he teaches through exercises, which build your vocal muscular system in very specific, steady and controlled ways. He has a great ear, and can identify exactly what you're doing wrong, and addresses it with a specific exercise. Often times I would come to my lesson with allergies, minor colds, or even *cough* hangovers, and by the end of it he would have me singing as if nothing was wrong. I've never had any pain, and have completely trusted him with my voice, and it has certainly paid off. He'll also push you during the lessons, so that you never feel like you didn't accomplish anything. I found that even when I neglected my personal practice, I would still improve as long as I just showed up to my voice lesson that week. The most similar thing I can liken it to is having a very good personal trainer for weightlifting. All in all, I would highly, highly recommend Allen. He truly has a passion for singing, and has personally overcome very difficult vocal obstacles, so he knows how to avoid them, and what to do to fix them. He is a gifted vocalist and teacher."

"Allen Rascoe is a very unassuming person, full of life and has a beautiful personality. This resonates in his vocal teaching. My daughter Ashmin Skyy has been going to him for quite sometime now and I must say her vocal went from simple to magnificent. I would recommend Allen Rascoe to anyone who is interested in not only singing but who wants to thoroughly understand vocal techniques."

"When I first began singing, it was all incorrect. I would "drag up" chest voice, as they say, until it came to a point where I had not even an octave to my voice. After just the first month with Allen, I'd begun to see drastic changes in my voice that has helped me to explore more stylistic and technical areas of my voice I hadn't even imagined. It has now been a year and I couldn't have been happier with the results I'm seeing. I have more freedom when I sing, more confidence in my voice, and it's all thank to Allen Rascoe. Highly recommended in my book! "

"I tried out four different vocal teachers before deciding to work with Allen and have no doubt he was the right choice. He is passionate about his work, always going the extra mile to explain a concept or spend extra time when I'm on a roll, and has never once seemed distracted or uttered a negative word about the state of my voice. I came in with significant technical difficulties reinforced over time, but in the past year - under Allen's guidance - I've unlearned those habits and gained a mental map of the correct coordination of my vocal muscles. I am singing in a way I've never been able to before and have complete confidence that I will continue to improve. I highly recommend Allen to anyone who wants to learn to sing the correct way, without any tricks or inherent style, and find their true voice."
