LAURA ANTONINA VICARI, soprano, is known for her abilities as a “singer-actress.” Consistently noted by critics and audiences for her nuanced vocalism and dramatic intensity, her success as Cìo-Cìo-San with Lancaster Opera was hailed as “exquisite and inspired,” and she was praised for her “rich, vibrant voice.” A graduate of the Mason Gross School of the Arts and the Peabody Conservatory, Ms. Vicari was one of Baltimore’s most sought after singers. She performed regularly with Baltimore Opera’s Education Programs, as well as Opera Vivente, a Baltimore-based opera company. She has also appeared in PA with Lancaster Opera, ConcertOpera, Philadelphia and Opera Theater of Philadelphia; Opera in the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, AK; Seagle Colony in Schroon Lake, NY; and Operafestival di Roma in Rome, Italy. Her operatic roles range from the familiar (Mimì, Cìo-Cìo-San, Fiordiligi, Donna Anna, Pamina) to the unusual (Beauty in Beauty and the Beast at Baltimore Artscape2000 for Baltimore Opera; Mélisande, Mrs. Gobineau in The Medium, and Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia with Opera Vivente). Since relocating to South Florida, Ms. Vicari has appeared with South Florida Lyric Opera, Coral Gables Symphony and Opera, and Gulf Coast Symphony in Ft. Myers, FL.
As a recitalist, she has been fortunate to be involved in several world premieres, working with composers writing specifically for her voice, as well as being in demand to sing Operatic, Musical Theater, and Standard favorites at a variety of venues. She was the first-place Maryland winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Auditions, and a semi-finalist in the Baltimore Opera Competition and the Boca Raton Voice Competition. With training in acting and improvisation she has enjoyed her participation in both the PA and FL Renaissance Festivals. Ms. Vicari cherishes her 12-year ministry as cantor at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Baltimore and on the live broadcast of Radio Mass of Baltimore. She currently sings at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton. A former member of the Baltimore Opera Chorus, Ms. Vicari continues her love of opera chorus with Palm Beach Opera.

"Mrs.Vicari is a great teacher who has a gifted voice and musicality. She gave me the skills to sing up to a high F in head voice. Her technique is very effective. Her exercises strengthened my voice and resonance. She is the best. Giuliano Zanatti tenor"

"Ms. Vicari has been absolutely wonderful working with my daughter to develop her classical vocal talent. My daughter connected with her immediately. She has been taking lessons from Ms. Vicari for only about 10 months now, but she has made so much progress during that time. I have noticed a much richer quality in her voice, more confidence and a beautiful resonance. Ms. Vicari has also provided some wonderful opportunities for my daughter, such as taking her to experienced performers' recitals. She got to witness what it takes to do these recitals and got to meet some of the performers. And Ms. Vicari made it into a lesson by asking her some questions later about the recital to further develop her understanding. My daughter now begs us to go to see live operas and she gets so much out of them now. And we love going to see the operas that Ms. Vicari is in. It's a wonderful experience. She has also helped with identifying competition opportunities for my daughter and getting her ready for them. We have one coming-up in February that we are quite excited about. I would say that if you are interested in developing your vocal talent, Ms. Vicari is the best!"

"Ms. Vicari is a wonderful voice teacher and she has a gift for connecting with the student. She is also a talented opera singer herself, which has been very helpful with my daughter aspiring to be an opera singer one day. I have noticed a lot of improvement in my daughter's classical singing since she has been taking lessons from Ms. Vicari (about 10 months now). Her vocal tone has improved and her voice seems richer and has more warmth. Her diction (Italian) has improved tremendously as well. And her music teacher at school has noticed the difference as well. Ms. Vicari has also helped build her confidence and her knowledge of opera as well. She has taken the time to bring her to some local professional recitals and then "quizzes" her about them after. If you want a vocal teacher with not only technical ability, but also knowledge, expereince and passion, then Ms. Vicari is the teacher for you."

"Ms. Vicari has been my voice teacher for over 5 years. I started when I was 15 and continued with our lessons even when I was attending college for opera. She is extremely talented. Her voice is not only beautiful but her technique is excellent and easy to assimilate. Not only is she a great teacher, but a great person as well. She is a great mentor for young children as well as a wonderful teacher for adults. Ms. Vicari has a vibrant personality which adds to the joy of her lessons plus her passion for music. She is very capable of teaching any style of music. I was extremely lucky to find her and to continue to be studying with her. I would recommend Ms. Vicari to anyone and anyone who takes lessons from her is in the best of hands."
