"I have been studying with Michael for the better part of 8 years, and he is truly amazing. Extremely giving, extremely knowledgeable, and extremely talented. He excels as a teacher because of his zest for helping people in their self-improvement and growth processes (in voice, self-confidence, self-expression, etc.), his egolessness, and his dedication to helping people discover and bring out their unique voice. He insists on excellence but also meets you where you're at. I cannot recommend him highly enough."

"Michael is a great vocal coach but he is quick to diagnose problems and recommend solutions in a very encouraging and constructive way. I couldn't be happier with his blend of excellent technique and positively encouraging style."

"I have been lucky enough to study with Michael for the past 13 years. He has helped me go from wanna be Barbara Streisand belter to an accomplished operatic soprano. His way of teaching promotes healthy techniques and great control. He has a great talent for song selection for auditions, and has helped me get into Mannes College of Music, win countless competitions, and even get a role in a world premiere opera in Italy. He is extremely knowledgeable, and you can just tell by the look on his face when you hit a right note or finally get a rhythm you have been working on for days right, that he truly loves what he does. Not only is he an excellent teacher but great mentor. I can't find words to recommend Michael Douglas Jones highly enough!"

"When I met Michael I had been struggling with a painful vocal issue for 20 years, and I had been through so many teachers, so many failed techniques. I felt like a hopeless case, and had developed a singing style that allowed for my limitations – though I never felt satisfied. Michael’s impressive credentials and a glowing recommendation from a Grammy-winning colleague persuaded me to give it one more try. As soon as I heard his chocolatey bass boom at me from the doorway and felt the kindness of his presence I knew I had found something special. But I had no idea. Michael’s depth of understanding of the vocal instrument, honed by his years as a master teacher and performer on the great stages of the world, is incredible. This combined with his highly-developed intuition give him an unerring instinct for what will work. But what elevates Michael above all other teachers is his fearless approach. Michael is a risk-taker, professionally and artistically, and the bravery of his vision comes through in his teaching. And this fearlessness is matched with a peerless compassion for his student as a human being and as an artist. Never have I been so skillfully led, pushed, and at times left alone to make my own discoveries. I cried and raged plenty during the breaking down of my old vocal habits, and Michael bore it with a saint’s patience. Gradually I began to unlock potentials that I had long since given up wishing for; blockage was replaced with freedom, until I possessed a whole spectrum of new frontiers, of colors and textures that I never knew I was capable of – though I had dreamed of them. Study with Michael. It will be the best thing you have ever done for your voice. And you’ll have the pleasure of his company too – lucky you. "
