Bob Ferguson began in the music profession as an independent studio instructor and freelance performer, and he remains active in both areas. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Indiana University and his Master's Degree in Guitar Performance from I.U.'s Jacobs School of Music.
Bob studied with international recording and concert artist Ernesto Bitetti of Spain. His teachers have also included early music specialists Jeffrey Noonan and Thomas Binkley, Bolivian classical virtuoso Javier Calderon, American recitalist Michael Lorimer, and jazz guitarist Ted Greene.
In addition to his private studio activities, Bob was director of guitar studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) from 1985 to 1992 and co-founded the Young Guitarists Program at the Jacobs School. He has served as Artist-in-Residence at Weisser Park Arts Magnet School in Fort Wayne and guitar instructor for Taylor U. and Grace College. He continues to teach for IPFW as well.

"I have virtually no musical talent. However, I worked wit Bob for several years in the 1980's. Bob was extremely patient and very encouraging through out my studies. Bob would listen to my interests and tailor my lessons for the music I wanted. During the lesson he would score the music to my level and to my interest and it kept my interest and enthusiasm at a high level. I would give Bob very high marks for his ability to teach at seemingly every level. Thanks Bob for your work and it was a great experience just knowing you.
