  "Where to begin? When I decided to pursue guitar lessons at age 35, I was overloaded with all of the available information about learning to play guitar. I signed up for lessons at a local music shop and started meeting with the teacher. The guy had his own plan completely and would not tailor his approach to my musical tastes. I got tired of that and looked around and signed up with Brett. What a difference! He really is a great teacher! I made more progress with Brett in 4 lessons than I did with the other teacher in 4 months of lessons. He presents the material in a way that makes it accessible and you see progress fairly quickly. He clearly knows his stuff and he has a definite passion for the material. I encourage anyone who is interested in learning guitar or any of the instruments he teaches, to take lessons from him (I only took guitar, but I have been in group classes where the banjos and hammer/mountain dulcimers were there and he could play and instruct on all of them.)"

  "Brett is a great teacher. I had received a dulcimer for Christmas and was looking to find an instructor. I was driving by the Gitterpicker Music store and decided to stop in and at least ask if they knew of someone. Brett and I spoke for a few minutes and I decided to take a class. I continued with the mountain dulcimer and then went on to the hammered dulcimer. I am not a very confident person, but Brett made me feel as though I could play any piece of music with confidence. Thank goodness he is patient."

He had me playing songs almost immediately and his teching technique did not require me to read music (even thought I know how). It was refreshing and fun to tap into that part of my brain again!
