About Mary Ann
Mary Ann Benoit is the Director and founder of Kaleido World Percussion and Dance Company. She is a certified Fat Chance Belly Dance American Tribal Style Dance Instructor. Kaleido is a Fat Chance Belly Dance Sister Studio. Mary Ann has 5 years of dance and performance training and has taken classes and/or workshops with with Carolena Nericcio, Mira Betz, Myra Krien, Alexandria King, Saqra, Sadie Marquardt, Sahra Saeeda, Elizabeth Strong, Mish Mish, Carrie Moore, Lori Angove, Joanna Caselli, Melissa Wanamaker, Aksana, and Kathy Burgoyne. She also has 25 years experience as a musician as a jazz bass player and currently plays doumbek, frame drums, djembe, tarine, zills, and other world percussion instruments. She has taken percussion workshops with Helm, Brothers of the Baladi, Saqra and Eddie Woods.
Kaleido's goals are to play our own live music to dance to, for our dancers to be the musicians and for our dance to paint a three dimensional picture of the music
