About Trombone
Did you know that until the 18th century, the trombone was actually called a sackbut? Today the name refers to two major types: the slide trombone and the contrabass trombone. Teachers might give both kinds of trombone lessons, but you're probably most familiar with is the slide trombone because of its distinct telescopic slide tube. Players slide the tube to different lengths in order to change pitches.

Music where players slide between adjacent positions is relatively easy to learn compared to songs that require players have to move between extreme positions?that kind of music might require a few extra trombone lessons! A good start to your first trombone lesson may be to learn how to make sound; ask your trombone teacher to show you how to do this by tightening your lips and increase air pressure blown into the mouthpiece.

If you feel like the slide trombone just isn't for you, try taking a valve trombone lesson, which resembles a large trumpet. No matter what kind of trombone interests you, Betterfly can help find the right trombone teacher for you!
