About Acting
The term "thespian" is derived from the name of an ancient Greek man named Thespis, who is believed to have been one of the first actors. As legend has it, Thespis randomly broke out from the more traditional, chorus-driven storytelling method of the time, and began delivering a story in first person ? thusly becoming the first "character."

Since then, the art has undergone countless innovations, which have paved the way for all different kinds of acting classes and acting coaches. When considering taking an acting class, the first thing to ask yourself is where you see yourself as an actor: on stage, TV, the big screen? Having a sense of where you want to perform will help you determine what types of acting classes and acting coaches suit your theatrical needs.

After all, not everyone seeks mega-Hollywood stardom. Many, instead, seek the expertise of a single, highly-specialized acting coach, who can help them hone specific skills like body language, improvisation and stage combat. All theatrical performances incorporate a delicate interplay of techniques, however, so one acting class usually doesn't do the trick; any acting coach will tell you that mastery comes with practice, practice, practice.
